Spinal Cord Stimulation

Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) is a procedure in which the mechanisms where pain is transmitted through the spinal cord are altered. A low dose of electrical currents are administered in specific patterns to change the way pain is perceived. This procedure has been practice for around 40 years and we at Valley Medical are proud to offer it.

The procedure is a minimally invasive surgery with local anesthetics and minor sedation. A SCS implant is placed just under the skin in the patients lower back slightly above their buttocks. Throughout the procedure, the patient will be asked if they are comfortable with the current stimulation level. This allows our physicians to pin point the correct level of stimulation needed for each individual. The surgery is carried out by using an x-ray machine to accurately track the placement of each device eliminating the possibility of error.

We offer spinal cord stimulation at all of our Chicagoland locations for your convenience. Select which location is best for you to get in contact with us.
